(daughter of Allen Jones and Elizabeth Frances Zachary)

Second Generation
2. Zella Cowan b. 20 Apr 1889, [2]
m. Rollins Howard.
Zella died 14 May 1955. [3]
They moved to the Rousseau's in Arizona and taught school
for several years. They operated a dairy farm in Arizona
3. Mattie Cowan b. 7 Feb 1892, [4]
m. bef 1921, George Stermer. Mattie died 25 Apr 1975, Oregon. [5]
Like her sister Zella, Mattie was also attracted to Arizona and
moved there and taught school. While there she met Geroge Stermer
--from Oregon. They reared their children in Arizona and then moved back
to Carlton, Oregon 1944. Mattie conveyed info on Jones family from
Jessie Apperson to Lillian Jones Nelson.
George: George, originally from Oregon, was a sheep rancher
for several years. When the children were partly grown, he and Mattie
moved back to Carlton, Oregon near Portland in 1944.
4. Allen Cowan b. 28 Aug 1893, [11]
m. (1) Sophia Caldwell Hill, b. abt 1895, (daughter of Rev.Edgar
Bruce Hill and Zena DeForest Parker)
m. (2) Lorna. Allen died 6 Dec 1943, Arizona. [12]
Allen Cowan served in WW I and later moved to Arizona where he worked
on the Cowden's cattle ranch. Later Allen obtained his own cattle ranch.
He died at age 50 when he was struck by a car, knocked into an irrigation
ditch and drowned.
Sophia: Sophia died when her second daughter was just a few
days old. Zella Howard took both girls and reared them in their home.
Lorna: music teacher in Arizona
5. Guy Cowan
m. (1) Lula Molen,
m. (2) Bessie Girkey.
Guy is the source of the photo of Allen Jones which he pulled from a dresser drawer
and gave to Beryl Rousseau saying " he thought this was a photo of Allen Jones."
