Frederick Foltz (1847-1929), was 7 yo when his family immigrated from the region west of Stuttgart, Germany in 1854 and settled near Lancaster, PA. After three years there, his father Frederick and mother Rosanna Goodecuntz moved the family to Lycoming Co, PA in the area around Williamsport. There Frederick met and married his wife Caroline Waltz, a member of the Baptist church. They subsequently moved to Nebraska and later to Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Thumbnail photos (below) are also of Frederick. Photo on right was abt. 1923 at age 76. He intermittently visited his granddaughter Margaret Caroline Foltz in Muskogee and helped look after her while her parents worked.

Caroline Waltz Foltz (1850-1905), was the daughter of William Waltz and Mary Hurr pictured later. Caroline grew up in Fairfield, PA, where she met and wed Frederick in 1873.

Caroline Waltz enlarged from a group photo of her Waltz cousins (partially shown above) which was taken in Williamsport about 1870 when Caroline was probably about 18 and later sent to Mr. Frederick Foltz in Seward, OK with an "x" marked on the blouse of Caroline.
Rosanna Goodecuntz (b.abt. 1827) the mother of Frederick Foltz came from The Stuttgart area of Germany about 1854 following her marriage sometime before 1847 to Frederick Foltz, Sr. (b. abt.1825) (no photo available). Her sister and brothers had come before her and settled in Pennsylvania.

Parents of Caroline Waltz
William Waltz (1815-1885), the father of Caroline Waltz was the son of George Waltz who had married Catherine Kiess (daughter of the diarist, George Kiess.) Gerorge Walz and Catherine had made the trip from Germany to Blooming Grove with the company of German Brethern ("Dunkers") in 1804. William was born about ten years later in Lycoming Co, PA, and married Mary Hurr in1838 in Fairfield, PA. In 1841 William and Mary were converted by some visiting preachers to the Baptists, and their children were reared in that church.
Mary Hurr (1813-1876), was the mother of Caroline Walz.
Mary was the daughter of Johann Jakob Hurr and Anna Barbara Kehrer (according to Kevin Sholder's genealogy notes.)
Upon her death in 1876. J. Eisenmenger of Warrensville, PA wrote the following in her obituary: "She was given to hospitality...married life was happy...blessed with eleven children...ten of whom are members of the different Baptist churches in this region. She had 31 grandchildren, two of whom were called to eternity before her."
The photos of many of her children and grand children have been preserved on Photo Page 2.
William Walz was the nephew of Michael Walz, ancestor of Kevin Sholder. Kevin is, thus, related to our family through both the Walz (Johan Walz & Elizabeth Stahl) and Foltz (Frederick Foltz & Rosanna Goodecoontz) family lines.
